Getting Started
- Open the app and tap any book on the shelf to open it. Seven volumes come ready with example entries, so there is something to look at from the first launch.
- Turn forward from the last page to create a fresh leaf, even if the previous page is still empty. Tap the paper to write; the title is optional.
- Tap + New Binding to bind a fresh volume, and pick one of the fourteen bindings for it.
- Drag across a page, or tap near either edge, to turn the leaf.
- Your writing saves automatically as you type. There is no separate Save button.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is my diary stored? Is it synced anywhere?
Entirely on your device, and nowhere else. There is no account, no server and no sync. The app makes no network requests at all — see the Privacy Policy.
What happens if I delete the app?
Everything in it is deleted with it, and there is no copy anywhere to restore from. Keep iOS device backups turned on if your entries matter to you, and use Settings → Export everything as text now and then to keep a copy you can read anywhere.
How do I back up or move my diary to a new phone?
Restoring a new phone from an iCloud or encrypted computer backup brings your diary with it, the same as any other app's data. For a copy you control directly, export to plain text from Settings and save it wherever you like.
How safe is the Face ID lock?
It keeps casual eyes out — it is a door, not a safe. It will not stop someone who already has your unlocked phone, and it is not encryption. If no device passcode is set at all, the app lets you in rather than locking you out of your own writing.
Can I change the paper or binding after I have written in a volume?
Yes. Open the book, tap the sliders in the top bar for Page Studio, and change the lines or the paper. Each can be applied to just that page or to every page in the book.
Why do pages look different on iPhone and iPad?
On iPhone, the book presents one page at a time. On iPad, it opens as a two-page spread and supports portrait and landscape layouts. Both views contain the same entries and use the same page-turn controls.
Can I change the app icon?
Yes. Open Settings → App Icon and choose any of the included journal designs. The Original icon can be restored at any time.
Can I use my own photo behind the home screen?
Yes. In Settings → Library Themes choose Your Own Room, pick a photograph, and drag each piece of the screen wherever you want it. The undo button steps back through your changes one at a time.
Why does the app ask for photo access?
Only when you attach a picture to an entry or choose a home screen background. It reads the picture you pick and nothing else.
My daily reminder is not arriving.
Check that the reminder is on in Settings → Reminder, and that notifications are allowed for Daily Diary Notes in iOS Settings → Notifications. The app will tell you in Settings if iOS has them switched off.
Is there a subscription or any in-app purchase?
No. The app is free, with no advertising, no subscription and no in-app purchases.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or newer.
